Day 9 - Cyprus

Had an awesome brekky on the pier this morning in the sun: omelette, 3 types of cheese, rocket, olives, salami, fresh Turkish bread & yogurt with a few nescafes. Got a bit too much sun actually.

We drove to Vouni, a hilltop ruin that was built in 500BC and looked over the water and mountain ranges. Took a lot of photos and walked around the ruins, had a good chat in the sun. It's been really great fun to spend a lot of continuous time with my Uncle Tony in Cyprus, just talking shit a lot and listening to stories about Cyprus when he was growing up.

Next stop was the ancient city of Soli which has a basilica, Roman theatre and agora which dates back to the 11th century BC. They also had mosaics from the 4th century AD which is pretty mind boggling really, fine art like that doesn't seem to happen like that in public places anymore (correct me if I'm wrong). We had a beer and coffee in the sun on the pier at the restaurant, with some Lak Macun (Turkish pizza).

We finished the afternoon by picking figs at Düreiye's and  eating grapes from the vine. Then demolishing the bucket of figs we picked. Then lamb, salad, beans, coconut cake and Turkish coffee. Then walnuts. Back to the restaurant for beers and pistachios and almonds with Caner. I can feel the waistline expanding just a touch.
