What's that old saying about photographers and not living the moment because they're too busy looking through the camera lens? No such trouble in Austin, I think it was our 2nd or 3rd day that I actually took my first photo. It's not really the kind of city that has 'sights' as such, instead you spend your time hopping from meal to meal and getting familiar with street names and neighbourhoods. The city shows its true point of difference at night. Bars, bars, bars, bars and more bars are walking distance apart in more than a few neighbourhoods. Between the bars are semi-permanent food trucks, restaurants and houses....it's much more 'local' and 'neighbourhood-y' than any other city I can think of at the moment.
I guess it's a city that is to be experienced, rather than seen.
